Adult Education & Training

ADULT EDUCATION & TRAINING
Survivors who receive safe and supportive responses to disclosures of sexual violence are more likely to reach out for help from medical and counselling services and report to police.
RESPONDING TO CHILD & YOUTH DISCLOSURES
Children will disclose to someone they trust and feel safe with, this can and does happen in a variety of settings. Learn about childhood sexual abuse facts and myths, warning signs, impacts, how to appropriately respond to disclosure and what to next (reporting options, support services).
RESPONDING TO ADULT DISCLOSURES
Disclosing recent sexual assault or historical sexual abuse can be very difficult. Survivors may not know who to turn to, or what options are available to them. Learn how to appropriately respond, identify short & long term impacts, and how to refer to specialized support services and treatment in your area.
UNDERSTANDING SEXUAL ABUSE, ASSAULT AND HARASSMENT
Sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and sexual harassment are crimes that affect everyone. Nearly 1 in 2 Albertans have experienced one or more types of sexual violence in their lifetime. Develop a greater understanding of the issue, consider current statistics, consent, reporting options, facts and myths, and learn what you can do to make a difference.
COMPASSION FATIGUE, VICARIOUS TRAUMA, PTSD & BURNOUT
This session is geared towards those working in helping fields, those exposed to trauma, and those who are responsible for leading teams in these environments. Learn how to define CF, VT, PTSD and Burnout, how to recognize early warning signs, how to assess your own well being, and what steps to take to prevent or reduce the affects.
FIRST RESPONDER TO SEXUAL ABUSE AND ASSAULT (AASAS FRT)
This training is intended to build the capacity of professionals, paraprofessionals and community members to assess and respond effectively to disclosures of sexual assault and sexual abuse. First Responder to Sexual Assault and Abuse Training™ is a comprehensive two day training, inclusive of the full continuum of sexual violence and across the lifespan. (2 days, or 5 half days)
