We provide mental health, child safety and healthy living support and services for young children and their families. We give families access to free donated clothing, winter apparel, accessories, equipment, toys, monthly food boxes, and Christmas food and toys.

Services:
Health for Mom and Baby: Milk coupons, vitamins, and a “Good Food Box” are available to program participants. Birth Doula Services: A professional labour coach will provide physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after birth. Maternity Clothing: Members have access to gently used maternity clothing that is donated and borrowed. Programs: Pre-natal Class: Offered once a week. Covers fetal development, nutrition, breastfeeding, labour and delivery, postnatal care, infant safety, and past-partum depression. Preparation for Birth: Single workshop that offes information on labour and delivery. Participants will practice pain and comfort techniques and labour positions, using birth balls, yoga mats, and massage tools. Taming the Dragon: Pre-school and school-based program to improve emotional maturity, communication skills and social competence. Also available: Good Touch Bad Touch, Nobody's Perfect, Fun Friends, Rainbows. Parenting/Caregiver Workshops: Positive Discipline, Relationship Building, Dealing with Divorce, Social-Emotional Child Development, Understanding Anger, Grief and Loss, Stress Management, Self-Esteem, Family Violence. Family Life Skills: Stress Management, Making Healthy Choices, Self-Care. Emotional Backpack: Parent-child learning through play. Promotes emotional maturity, communication and social confidence program. Children learn to identify and understand their emotions. Parents learn strategies to effectively deal with child behaviours. Helps to improve the emotional connection between parent and child. Workshops: Home Safety, Food Storage, Making Healthy Choices, Breastfeeding 101, Sugar Facts, Baby’s First Food, Child Brain Injury Prevention, Infant Safety, Substance Use and Abuse, Age-Appropriate Toy Information, Care Seat Safety Checks, Kid Care Kit. Ages and Stages: Learn about how children grow and develop and how to enhance your own child’s developmental potential through play and learning. Making Healthy Choices: Create a food budget, smart shopping, balanced nutrition, meal planning, food and beverage preparation, proper food storage. Child Nutrition and Picky Eating: Improve knowledge of child nutrition and learn strategies for encouraging picky eaters to broaden their choices. Let’s Get Cooking: Parents learn to prepare, cook and store meals. All meals prepared during class are available for parents to take home. Little Chefs: Parent-child nutrition and hands-on learning program. Builds healthy habits and relationships. Teeny Tumblers: Parent-child play-based physical health and wellbeing, social development, and communication program. Summer Splash: Parent and child aquatic activities that promote healthy living and fun. Good Food Box: Parents in need may be eligible to receive a monthly hamper of fresh fruits and vegetables. Any family with young children may purchase these boxes for $20. One-On-One Support: Families with children 0-5 years may be eligible for personal, one-on-one sessions in our facilities or in their home. Services are offered to improve child mental and physical health and wellbeing. Connections to Community Resources: Information and referral services for families with young children to connect with community services, programs, tools and resources. |
