10:30 am What Everyone Needs to Know about Strangulation
Morag McLean RN Domestic Violence and Health Consulting
Strangulation is one of the most serious and deadly forms of physical assault and is commonly used in domestic violence and sexual assaults. Strangulation is also known to be a predictor for future lethal violence in the relationship. Children are often exposed to this form of violence against a parent or loved one, with long lasting implications to their physical and emotional health. This session will cover strangulation in domestic violence and sexual assault, short and long-term health implications for the victim of strangulation, children experiencing or exposed to strangulation, and how to identify, assess and support victims and children.

Brief Overview & training of the final Prenatal Nutrition tool including the Conversation Guide, Logic Model, and Evaluation Summary. Learn how and where to access materials, resources, and training videos. An opportunity for Coalition members to bring forth questions and feedback.

Dads are important in children's lives, this workshop will look at the benefits of engaged Dad's and the importance of their roles.

In this workshop, we will review how trauma impacts us. As well, we will introduce and practice helpful tools for enhancing resilience and building our capacity.

1:00 pm Desensitization Protocols
In this workshop, participants will learn protocols which incorporate eye movements to reduce the impact of critical incidents. These protocols are not therapy and focus on recent or current experiences and help people get their feet on the ground so they can move forward with more ease. These tools were developed by Roy Kiessling of emdrconsulting.com.
