Programme Franco-Accueil (CAPC)

Serves: ​St. Paul and Area

Who We Are

Les familles francophones de St.Paul et regions seront informe'es, accompagne'es et appuye'es par des programmes et des services l'education et de sante' en francais, disponibles das une communaute' anglo-dominate.

Providing support to francophone / bilingual (French - English) children 0 to 6 years of age and to their families, living in a French minority setting in the St. Paul area.
 
-Breaking the isolation and the assimilation cycle in children of francophone/ bilingual families;
 
-Encouraging the physical, mental, social, cultural and linguistic health of young children through early detection, early intervention and prevention programs;
 
- Making parents aware of their role as first educators of their children;
 
- Assuring availability of health and child development resources in French throughout the community and establishing links with community organizations.

Our Programs

“Francophones aux couches” – Individualized presentation of a gift pack adapted to the particular needs and ages of the children in the family.

Pre-school accompaniment for the Francophone program for children 3½ to 4½ years of age.

French Resource Centre - Open to children and their parents; this lending library has a bank of resources to meet particular needs. Educational games, books, health resources, cds, music, dvds and much more are available.

Parent and Tot Group - Where children come with their parents to meet and play in a French environment on Wednesdays.

Stories on Wheels - A lending program promoting literacy for children 6 months to 4 years old, using resources from the Centre.

Workshops - Parenting skills, health issues, child growth and development, early literacy and writing skills (babysitting services are provided if the children are not integrated in the workshop)

Guide for Parents With Preschool Children – A French growth and development record booklet created by our program.

Reading Tent – Celebrates Canada Book Day –   April 23rd.

Off on the Right Foot – Early intervention event for preschool developmental assessments – using Ages & Stages Questionnaires and specialists within our    community to answer parent’s questions and concerns.

Information Kiosk during community events.

Linking with community organizations that also provide support and services to families with young children.
